Aleppo activists have published images of explosive hoses dropped by regime helicopters over residential neighborhoods in Aleppo’s countryside.
Mohammad al-Shafei, Al-Souria’s correspondent in Aleppo, said that helicopters dropped the 100-meter long devices on the Katerji neighborhood causing “huge destruction” in the area. He added that "according to preliminary information, the hoses contain material, detonators and hardware that turn into deadly shrapnel once the explosion occurs."
The defected colonel Malek al-Kurdi took to Facebook to explain the weapon: "These giant snakes (hoses) are designed to open gaps in the barriers of the fortified area in the occupied Golan. The Assad regime had never once used them against the Israeli enemy, but is now using them to kill our people in Aleppo."
Colonel Ahmed Farzat, also a defector, said that the hoses are used to open gaps in mine fields and to infiltrate fortified areas, adding that they are made in Russia and are fired from special tanks.
