Opposition’s Toumeh Says World Powers Want Syrian Crisis to Continue

The head of Syria’s opposition Interim Government said on Monday the International Community does not want to resolve the Syrian crisis but instead has adopted a policy of crisis management policy, according to a Zaman al-Wasl reporter in Gaziantep, Turkey.

“All we got from the world is no more than promises. We do not have anything tangible or concrete,” Toumeh said during a press conference from the government headquarters in the border city with Syria.

"The international powers seek to arrange all the cards in the war-torn country before imposing solutions on the ground," Toumeh said.

"We always call on the international community to move towards a solution, but their officials keep telling us that we must first discuss the issue of terrorism, pointing out that the weakness of the international community in support of the Syrian people increases the complexity of the scene in the country," Toumeh added.

In response to questions about how to create a powerful national army, Toumeh assured that all rebel groups will be included as the Islamic Front as a major active revolutionary faction on the ground, saying the army will be formed in the near future.

However the Interim PM denied any cooperation with the Nusra Front or the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS).

Toumeh also announced at the conference the allocation of $250,000 in immediate support for the rebels of Homs since they evacuated the city, following an historic deal with Bashar Assad’s regime and after 30 months of a severe siege and starvation policy.

"Rebels of Homs will be a part of the planned national army and they will be affiliated to the defence ministry,” Toumeh said.

Toumeh did not mention how or when this support would be delivered to the rebels who settled in the northern countryside of Homs, according to a Zaman al-Wasl reporter.
