Israeli Airstrikes Target Southern Syria in Response to Missile Launches

Israeli warplanes conducted four airstrikes in the western countryside of Daraa, according to Baladi News.

On Monday, October 30, the Israeli army confirmed that it conducted airstrikes on several targets in southern Syria as a response to missile launches from Syrian territory into Israeli-controlled areas. Israeli military sources reported that their fighter planes had targeted the launch platforms used for the missile attacks.

According to Syria’s official news agency, SANA, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial attack targeting two military sites in Daraa Countryside, causing material damage. A military source reported that the Israeli aggression took place at approximately 1:35 a.m. on Monday, originating from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan. The strikes resulted in some material damage to the targeted locations.

The Israeli military stated that it had struck military infrastructure within Syrian territory during the operation but did not provide specific details. However, Israeli public broadcaster Kan News reported that the airstrikes were directed at locations in the Daraa region of southern Syria associated with Iran’s allies.

The Ahrar Houran Gathering website further detailed that Israeli warplanes had conducted four airstrikes in the western countryside of Daraa, targeting positions linked to the Assad regime and Iranian militias. These airstrikes reportedly included two strikes on the command headquarters of the 112th Brigade of regime forces, situated east of the city of Nawa in Daraa’s western countryside. The artillery battalion, known as the “Hamra Battalion,” affiliated with the same brigade, was also targeted with two airstrikes. The extent of militia casualties was not immediately known.

The “112th Brigade” and its battalions serve as key bases for Iranian militias operating in the western Daraa region. Previously, this brigade had been the subject of Israeli airstrikes in response to Katyusha missile launches toward the Syrian Golan region.

In the early hours of Sunday, October 29th, the Israeli army carried out heavy artillery strikes on sites associated with the Syrian regime in Quneitra. Israeli aircraft had also dropped leaflets over the western countryside of Daraa and Quneitra on October 25th, holding regime forces responsible for missile launches directed toward the occupied Golan Heights.

This escalation in southern Syria coincides with the Israeli military’s intense aerial bombardment campaign targeting the Gaza Strip. Simultaneously, Israel has issued warnings to Iranian militias, cautioning them against involvement in the conflict.
