Israel's water and energy minister Sylvan Shalom said Monday the government is worried about the possible delivery of Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missiles to Syria, and said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who will visit Moscow soon, is intent on stopping the transfer from going ahead.
The comments coincided with the arrival of Russian warships to the Mediterranean from the Pacific. Commander-in-Chief of the Russian military fleet, Admiral Victor Cherkov announced Monday that his country had begun preparations to install a permanent war fleet in the Mediterranean. The group will start executing its missions next summer.
