The establishment of the Syrian Islamic Council was announced in Istanbul, following days of meetings beginning 11 April.
The meeting was concluded in the presence of a large gathering of Syrian scientists and advocates, individuals and representatives of Islamic organizations and associations.
Anatolia news agency reported that the council consists of about 40 Sunni Islamic commissions and associations inside and outside Syria, and it includes the legitimate bodies of the largest Islamic groups across the country.
