Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah has formed a new militia in the regime-held neighborhoods of Deir-ez-Zor city, a prominent activist told Zaman al-Wasl.
Founder of Deir-ez-Zor is Being Slaughtered Silently campaign Ahmed al-Ramadan confirmed Hezbollah recently formed the 120 man strong Zein al-Abedeen Brigade, adding that Syrian army helicopters continued to transport the militants to Deir-ez-Zor over four days.
Ramadan said the brigade’s headquarters is located near the central prison in the regime-controlled Jawra neighborhood.
Lebanese Hezbollah militants have been present in the city for the last four months, the activist pointed out, adding that members are distinguished from local militiamen by their high salaries and influence.
