Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian stressed that Iran and Russia are seriously adopting strategies for supporting Syria and Iraq in combating terrorism, pointing out that the U.S. is not serious in combating the terrorist organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, ISIS.
Iranian News Agency IRNA quoted Abdullahian as saying in a statement to journalists on Tuesday following his meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, that Tehran and Moscow are actively supporting Syria and Iraq in confronting terrorism and the ISIS terrorist organization.
The Iranian official stressed that Moscow’s support to Syria and Iraq is concrete, pointing out that Syria’s political future is associated with its people, as the Iranian and Russian efforts for achieving a political solution have joint principles.
He clarified that the Iranian-Turkish difference is represented through their view of the crisis in Syria, which could be solved through constant consultation.
