The Syrian government called on citizens to stay home over the blessed Eid al-Adha holiday, as a precaution to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

This announcement came in a statement published by SANA, on behalf of the regime. It read, “The current stage requires a high degree of awareness and responsibility in terms of adherence to precautionary measures to address the coronavirus pandemic and limit its spread.”

The ministry’s statement also approved the extension of the suspension of public bodies for a week on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha starting next Thursday through Friday of the following week.

The Ministry of Health reported 23 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of registered infections to 650, in addition to nine recovering cases, which brings the number of people who have recovered from the virus to 200.

The ministry indicated that two deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 38.
