Syria, Belarus Discuss Boosting Cooperation in Reconstruction Phase

Syrian Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf met with Belarusian representatives on Monday to discuss possible cooperation between the two countries over the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Syrian infrastructure.

The talks, which were attended by Belarusian Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk, focused on investments in industrial cities to ensure the sustainable development of resources, such as the establishment of a factory for assembling Belarusian vehicles inside Syria.

Makhlouf stressed the importance of follow-up talks between the two sides, especially in the field of transport, where plans are afoot to supply Syria with more than 200 buses to support its internal transport system.

For his part, Vovk who said that his visit aims at deepening the existing relations of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, pointed out to the desire of Minsk to enhance bilateral cooperation and investment in the field of transport and industry during the reconstruction phase.
