Despite War, Syrian Exports Reach 90 Countries: Economy Minister

Around 80 percent of Syrian products have seen a return to the export markets, Mohamad Samer al-Khalil, Syria's minister of economy and foreign trade, said.

During a meeting with Sudanese Ambassador to Damascus Khaled Ahmad Mohammad Ali, Khalil said that strong indicators in all sectors are proof the economy is recovering.

Despite the war, Syrian exports still reach around 90 countries around the world, Kahlil said, adding that the high percentage of products in the export market indicates that most of the production sectors have returned to work.

Khalil said that around 2,500 facilities are currently under construction in the industrial city around Adra, adding that 1,000 handcraft facilities in the Damascus countryside will soon begin production.

Talks with the Sudanese envoy focused on improving economic relations to increase the exchange of trade and to enhance the flow of goods between the two countries.
