Body of Fourth Division Officier Found South of Damascus

Residents in the town of Beit Sahem, south of Damascus, found the body of a member of the 4th Division, who had been shot dead on the outskirts of the town on Sunday evening.

Zaman al-Wasl’s correspondent said that the residents found the body at around 11 p.m. near the “Modern Syrian School,”  which is adjacent to the airport road. The correspondent pointed out that the fighter had been severely tortured, with his hands and legs cuffed, and his body showed traces of a metal wire wrapped on the neck. The latter caused the fighter’s death.

It was discovered that the body was an officer holding the rank of lieutenant, whose position was confirmed by the regalia on his clothes.

Our correspondent explained that the 4th Division was mobilized in the area and deployed its members at the scene of the incident. They also closed all roads leading to the area with three temporary barriers, which were erected on the town’s outskirts.

The correspondent confirmed that the fighters had taken the body to a military hospital in the area. They also opened an investigation with the area’s residents, without providing any information on the perpetrators.
