On Sunday, a senior Syrian regime officer died. Media close to the regime announced the death of General Ahmed Ali Dayoub, the commander of the 20th air division, who was known by the alias “Abu Ali”, in the coastal town of Karto in the Tartous governorate, northwestern Syria.
Dayoub comes from rural Homs, specifically from the town of Khirbet al-Suda.
Major General Dayoub served as commander for the regime’s 20th Air Division. Photographs showed him next to Suhail al-Hassan, a similarly ranked officer, who serves as brigadier-general and commander for the al-Nimr (tiger forces) [25th Special Mission Forces Division] militias.
