SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi Receives US Deputy Special Envoy To Syria

On Sunday, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi received US Deputy Special Envoy to Syria David Brownstein to discuss issues related to the future of Syria. 

Abdi posted a photo of himself with Brownstein on his Twitter, saying, “I am honored to welcome US Deputy Special Envoy David Brownstein.” 

Abdi did not mention the reasons behind the visit or the issues they talked about, but tweeted that, “we share a common vision of a future where all Syrians enjoy peace and freedom.” 

“We look forward to working together alongside with all our Syrian brothers to overcome common challenges and achieve this goal,” Abdi added. 

On Nov. 10, 2020, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, announced the end of the mission of the US Special Representative for Syria Engagement James Jeffrey.

Joel Rayburn, who was Jeffrey’s deputy, was assigned as US Special Envoy to Syria, while David Brownstein was assigned as his deputy.
