On Wednesday, President Bashar al-Assad issued legislative decree No. 10 for the year 2020, which stipulates for the exempting of raw materials imported for local industry, with a customs duty of one percent from customs duties specified in the customs tariffs schedule and all others taxes and fees imposed on importing.

In the meantime, the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday issued instructions on the return of Syrian citizens stranded abroad, due to measures taken by most countries in the world to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID 19), especially those related to border closures and travel restrictions.

The ministry said in a statement that the return of the Syrian civilians abroad includes the citizens stranded abroad who left Syria from Jan. 1, 2020 until May 1, 2020, the students willing to return to the homeland due to suspension of studies at educational institutions in the countries in which they are studying in them, and the employees delegated with official missions who were unable to return due to the closure of the border between countries.

The Ministry indicated that applications are being accepted from the Syrian citizens mentioned above, who wish to return home, within a period of one week as of May 17, 2020 until May 22, 2020.

The return process is only for the Syrian citizens, and will not accept applications of other nationalities, with exception of the wives and children of Syrian citizens, and they will undergo a period of quarantine at health quarantine centers in the provinces.
