Syria denounced in the strongest terms the decision of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations regarding human rights and democracy in Hong Kong.
An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said on Monday that this US decision constitutes blatant interference in the internal affairs of China, and it contradicts reality and the fact that what is taking place in Hong Kong is being managed by foreign sides, including the United States, in an attempt to create problems for China, distort its image on the international arena and hinder its progress in the economic and social fields.
The source said Syria reiterates its support for China and the One-China policy, and it calls upon foreign sides to respect China’s sovereignty and cease interfering in its internal affairs.
