The Central Bank of Syria (CBS) announced that is was issuing certificates of deposit in Syrian pounds, with a nominal value of 100 million Syrian pounds and a 4.5 percent interest rate and one year maturity.
In a circular sent out on Monday, the CBS said the certificates maturity date comes one year after Feb. 21, 2019, and the minimum number of certificates that can be acquired is five and the maximum is 10 percent of each bank’s liquidity.
Requests for the certificates can be made from Feb. 19, 2019, until Feb. 20, 2019 at the CBS register.
