On Monday, President Bashar al-Assad received a delegation from the Arab Lawyers’ Union (ALU) headed by Secretary General of the Union Nasser Hamoud al-Kreween.
During the meeting, President Assad affirmed the important role of public organizations and unions in protecting Arab societies and raising awareness for them, especially in light of the conspiracies and dangers that threaten them, mainly the attempts to obliterate identity and undermine the culture of belonging among the Arab people, in order to weaken them and undermine their belief in their causes and ability to defend their rights.
Talks during the meetings dealt with the situation in Arab countries and means to emerge from problems and crises, with President Assad saying that the problems affecting Arab countries are one and the same, but they have different forms and aspects.
President Assad stressed that the first step towards resolving these problems is through dialogue and transparency, because the lack of dialogue caused these problems to accumulate over decades.
For their part, members of the delegation said the ALU is determined to play an active role to raise awareness among Arab people via a methodical and practical plan, because the coming stage will be even more dangerous as the West will attempt to employ new tools and methods to achieve its projects in the region.
The delegation members praised Syria’s leadership, people, and army over the solidarity and cohesion they displayed in the face of the terrorist onslaught against them, affirming their support for the return of normal relations between Syria and Arab states.
They also said that Syria was targeted due to its adherence to pan-Arab principles and standards, mainly the Palestinian cause.
