Iran has criticized the "double standards" of the West, manifested particularly in what it says is the failure to condemn the violations committed by terrorist groups in Syria.
"Human rights violations in Syria are being committed against all religions, not just one religion or race," Iran's Deputy Permanent Representative to the U.N., Gholam-Hossein Dehqani, said during a U.N. General Assembly session on Monday to discuss human rights in Syria.
"Unfortunately, none of the Western parties have taken a stand against such acts or against the foreign gunmen within the ranks of the terrorist groups in Syria," he said.
Dehqani slammed the West for "intentionally turning a blind eye" to extremists' crimes in Syria.
"Extremist terrorist groups and their backers must be held accountable for their acts," the Iranian Press TV website quoted the Iranian official as saying.
