No Russian-French Disagreement on Syria: Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday there is no disagreement between Russia and France on the need for a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria, but disagremments remain on the way forward.

In a joint press conference with his French counterpart, Laurent Fabius in Moscow, Lavrov said Russia "Presented inquiries to the investigation committee on chemical weapons, regarding how to bring some chemical weapons across Syrian borders."

Lavrov added that the U.N. chemical weapons inspectors should return to Syria to resume their work at several sites and work in a precise, professional way that serves justice.

He added that the inspectors are not authorized to determine who is responsible for the use of the chemical weapons in Syria, which is the job of the U.N. Security Council exclusively.

He also said that the opposition Coalition should be obligated to attend the proposed conference in Geneva.

The French Foreign Minister there can be "no military solution to the crisis in Syria, but only a political one through dialogue."
