Rebel Free Syrian Army fighters seized parts of a border village with Lebanon Friday after ambushing forces loyal to President Basher Assad and the militant group Hezbollah.
An FSA source told Zaman al-Wasl that rebels made advances in Jouciya, a village which neighbors Qusayr city, leaving a number of Assad forces dead.
Six rebel units have united to retake border villages from Assad’s army control, months after the famous Qusayr battle of June 2013 which ended in a bitter victory for Assad forces, who were directly backed by Hezbollah militants.
