Lebanses Shiite Hezbollah militia has arrested at least 240 people from the besieged neighborhoods of Homs in response to the killing of 14 militants in the al-Waer neighborhood and the seizure of eight corpses two days ago, sources told Zaman al-Wasl.
Activists confirmed that Hezbollah officials refused to free the hostages until the eight corpses are returned.
Most abductees were employees and students arrested at checkpoints controlled by the Iranian proxy as they returned to their homes.
The reconciliation committee which trying to solve the crisis said Hezbollah had refused any mediation by Assad’s security officials, quoting as saying "we need the corpses, whatever the cost."
The Syrian city of Homs, dubbed "the capital of the revolution" by rebels, has been a key flashpoint since the early days of the three-year-old revolt against Assad.
