The Syrian Minister of State for National Reconciliation Affairs, Ali Haidar, said on Sunday that the government is ready to help settle the files of those willing to lay down their weapons and get back on the right path.
Speaking to reporters during a tour of the Ihssan al-Mubayyed center for displaced families and the streets of the city of Edlib, Haidar hailed the positive atmosphere prevailing the province where several local reconciliations have been reached, prompting dozens of gunmen to hand over their weapons to authorities.
Efforts to achieve local reconciliations have been boosted across the country recently, especially since the army has been making significant gains on the battlefield.
Those gains, and encouragement of a positive atmosphere of reconciliation have yielded remarkable outcomes, the latest being in the Old City of Homs where hundreds of gunmen were evacuated and abductees in Aleppo and Lattakia were released.
During a meeting with social and popular figures and heads of public sector departments, Haidar said that the national reconciliation efforts launched in Syria more than a year ago are now achieving positive results in Edlib province, who's sons have foiled plans of the conspirators working against Syria.
