Mohammed Harith, the Editor of Step News, was assaulted and badly beaten by the bodyguard of Ahmad Toumeh, the Prime Minister with the Interim Government, during his visit to the Government’s Headquarter In Gaziantep in Turkey.
A well informed source confirmed to Zaman al-Wasl that Anas al-Akel, Toumeh’s bodyguard hit Harith several times, resulted in wounds and bruises on his face and body. It was claimed harith entered the waiting room without taking his shoes off while waiting to meet the Interim Prime Minister.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that assault happened in front of many ministers and employees in the Interim Government, but no one stepped in to help. The source mentioned that the bodyguard dragged Harith from the waiting room to the main entrance of the building. The injured editor called the police and reported the incident officially, and is planning to sue Toumah and his bodyguard.
The assault coincided with the gathering of many Syrians in front of the Government’s Headquarters to contest a number of decisions and demand a limit on salaries for the ministers and employees in the government, also requesting to raise the wages for worker in the civil defense and medical staff working in field hospitals.
