The director of the Social Affairs Directorate in Tartous, Nizar Mahmoud, announced that 21 non-governmental organizations have been announced in the governorate since the beginning of the current year.
The new orgnizations brings the total number of NGOs in Tartous to 100, in addition to 22 branches of societies from other governorates.
"Our focus now is on humanitarian services to the people who have arrived in the governorate. We need more financial support to cover the increasing expenditure which resulted from the arrival of huge quantities of people. We also need more transportation means to supervise the work of the non-governmental societies and the temporary shelters scattered in the regions of the governorate," said Mahmoud.
