Sources said a suicide bomber blew himself up Sunday morning near the Arts Faculty 'tunnel', in front of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the Damascus University, just a few hundred meters away from the Military Justice Directorate, and the region's branch of Military Intelligence.
Field sources in Damascus confirmed hearing the sound of a huge explosion on Sunday morning.
The sources said the blast killed two people and wounded a third, while pro-regime social media and news reported that the explosion took place in the vicinity of the Faculty of Medicine at the university on the Mazzeh Highway in Damascus, without giving the number of casualties.
According to Sham FM radio, the sound of an explosion rocked throughout the capital, and it was caused by a bombing near the Faculty of Medicine at Mazzeh highway.
The 'Damascus Spring Rally' said on its Facebook page that a suicide bomber blew himself up at the Mazzeh Highway near the tunnel of the Arts Faculty, which resulted in the death of two people and the injury of a third. The news was also confirmed by the pro-regime Damascus page.
An atmosphere of tension prevailed in the Mazzeh district after the bombing, especially among regime forces who feared another explosion in the security zone which lies in the center of the capital.
