Regime Ignores Shabeeha Crimes, Rape: Document

A recent document leaked by Syrian regime security shows the regime knew about all of the crimes committed by the shabeeha militias in Salamiyah city, east Hama province.

Zaman al-Wasl has obtained a document dated February 10, 2014 from Branch 291 of the General Intelligence, showing a report about a member of security reporting to Ali Hamdan, who admitted killing 23 women and men and also disposed of their bodies.

The document revealed the names of victims as well as the date of abduction and torture, confirming that even children were subject to such crimes, while women were sexually harassed and raped.

The document detailed violations committed over a year and a half, which confirmed that the regime knew about Hamdan’s crimes in Salamiyah, especially Khanafis.

An alarming part of the document is that most people mentioned in the report were ordinary people not wanted by the regime.

The report documented the abduction of a woman and her 15-year-old daughter, who were abused and killed. Another family of four was killed and the wife abused.

The report mentioned that Hamdan owned a flat in the Zahra neighborhood, the pro-regime area in Homs, visiting it frequently and using it to hide abductees and abuse women.

This document adds further proof that the regime is involved in these crimes and turns a blind eye to what was going on.
