A regional snowstorm has killed 11 people, including seven children, in opposition-held areas in Syria in the past week, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported.
The Observatory said the number of Syrian deaths due to extremely low temperatures reached six people, after the Observatory earlier reported the death of a child and a man.
According to an email from the Observatory, "the bad weather and snowstorm that hit large areas of Syria resulted in the death of six citizens on Sunday, due to poor health conditions, extreme weather and lack of heating".
Victims include a child from the city of Bo Kamal, a man from the city of Mayadeen in the countryside of Deir-ez-Zor, a two-day-old twin from al-Fardos neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, a man from al-Maghaier neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, a child from Beit Sahem area in southern Damascus countryside and a child from the countryside of Daraa.
