Justice Minister: Foreign Brothers-in-Arms with Terrorists Given Fair Trial

Syrian Minister of Justice Najim al-Ahmed warned of Tunisians who acquired combat capabilities in Syria, saying that their return to Tunisia may pose a threat to the local society.

In a meeting with a Tunisian media delegation in Damascus on Tuesday, Ahmed said that those who were arrested fighting for terrorist organizations in Syria are being given a fair trial at Syrian courts.

Ziad al-Hani, the head of the Tunisian delegation and the editor-in-chief of Al-Sahafa newspaper, said that the Tunisian youths who joined such terrorist organizations were victims of propaganda by recruiting networks. He called the Tunisian authorities to unmask and prosecute the leadership of those networks that brainwash Tunisian youths.

Hani also expressed his appreciation of the sacrifices and resolve of the Syrian people confronting these terrorist organizations, and commended the warm welcome given to the Tunisian delegation.

The delegates noted that their visit to Syria reflected the mutual desire of Syrians and Tunisians to restore their diplomatic relations, while expressing Tunisians’ solidarity with the Syrian people in the face of terrorism.

The delegates voiced their determination to convey the true image of the events in Syria and the heinous crimes perpetrated by terrorist organizations to the Tunisian public back at home.
