Lebanon’s pro-Hezbollah al-Manar TV reported from sources that a ceasefire has been reached in the towns of Fuaa and Kefraya in the countryside of Idleb, northern Syria, and Madaya and Zabadani in the countryside of Damascus.
The sources said that the implementation of the ceasefire would begin at 12:00 pm local time Sunday.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the ceasefire in the four Syrian cities, stating clashes continued after midnight between regime forces, Hezbollah and the National Defense Force militia on the one hand, against Nusra Front and other Islamic factions on the other in Tel al-Khirbah and al-Sawaghiyah.
The Syrian Observatory said Nusra and other Islamic factions have advanced in the areas around the Shiite town of Fuaa, resulting in casualties on both sides.
Rebel fighter Hassan Hassan, from the Ahrar ash-Sham Movement, said Saturday that opposition factions within the Jaish al-Fatah (Army of Conquest) Operations Room were able to seize control of more than 13 regime locations in the towns of Fuaa and Kefraya, after opposition forces announced the battle for the two pro-regime towns on Friday.
The military operations were launched with five car bombs targeting regime positions and checkpoints on the outskirts of Fuaa.
