The Islam Army rebel group killed three Islamic State fighters on Wednesday in clashes that took place in the Hajar al-Aswad suburb south of Damascus, a rebel commander said.
Ayham al-Omar, media officer of the Army of Islam, said the group had thwarted the ISIS attack on its checkpoint in the Zein neighborhood, killing three militants.
Seven weeks ago, the group disrupted an ISIS deal with the Syrian regime, allowing around 2,000 militants to leave Hajar al-Aswad to Raqqa, the de facto capital of ISIS in Syria.
