Syria Rejects OPCW Charges of Chemical Weapons Use: Foreign Ministry

Syria’s foreign ministry dismissed allegations by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) claiming the Syrian army used internationally-banned weapons.

An expert panel of the OPCW voted to condemn the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government, which it says used chemical weapons three times between 2014-2015.

The ministry said that Damascus rejects the accusations against the Syrian army’s use of chemical weapons and considers the vote politicized and biased.

However, the ministry said it will carefully study the decision before issuing its final position according to the provisions of the convention.
