Schools in the rebel-held Idleb province have suspended teaching after the regime and Russia’s deadly aerial campaign killed around 70 people over the past four days.
The Civil Defense (White Helmets) group on Monday said that six children and two men had been killed in Russian airstrikes on the northern neighborhood of Idleb city.
The group said 18 people were also killed in Russian strikes on the town of Maarat al-Numan, where an AFP photographer saw rescue workers and residents trying to pull survivors from the rubble of a marketplace.
It also reported two additional deaths, one in an earlier strike on Maarat al-Numan and another in Al-Naqir, also in Idleb.
Six civilians, four of them children, had been killed in a regime barrel bomb attack on the town of Al-Tamanah in the same province, according to the group.
Monday's strikes also hit towns of Binnish, Taftanaz, Saraqeb, Maarat al-Nasan, Koreen and Ram Hamdan. A woman was reportedly killed in Taftanz, an activist said.
On Sunday, at least 26 people died in regime airstrikes on the northern town of Kafranble after warplanes targeted a crowded area next to an elementary school, the Civil Defense said.
