Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, announced that terrorists and their backers in Syria have failed to achieve their schemes aimed at toppling the country’s legitimate government.
Speaking in a television interview, Shamkhani said that Iran and Russia are in Syria upon a legitimate request by the Syrian government, unlike the U.S. which constitutes an occupying force in Syria.
He demanded the withdrawal of American forces from Syria, saying: “We call upon all the international forums to condemn the U.S. occupation in Syria.”
Shamkhani also stressed that Iran today is stronger than ever, adding that it will not give up its strategy of supporting the peoples of the region.
He indicated that Iran’s enemies are trying to isolate it “to not become an example to follow by the region’s peoples in depending on its own capabilities.”
The secretary affirmed that Iran will continue to defend the people of Palestine and Lebanon, and to defend Syria and Iraq.
Shamkhani said that U.S. President’s Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist entity (Israel) “has disclosed the secret and public relations between some Arab states and this entity.”
