Army units, backed by allied forces and air strikes, on Wednesday targeted ISIS gatherings in Deir-ez-Zor city and its surrounding areas.
SANA’s reporter in Deir-ez-Zor said that army units have expanded control of the al-Maqaber area on the southern outskirts of the city. After successfully targeting ISIS hideouts and entry points, the army units continued in the direction of the road linking Deir-ez-Zor airport to residential neighborhoods of the city.
The source added that the army operations in the area have resulted in the destruction of two ISIS vehicles. The army also regained control of one of the hills overlooking terrorist positions and fortifications on the airport road.
The Syrian Air Force also carried out air strikes against ISIS gatherings and fortified positions in al-Hamidiyeh, al-Omaal, al-Rashidiyeh, and al-Jabiliyeh neighborhoods in Deir-ez-Zor city and in al-Maamel and al-Maqaber areas. Air strikes on al-Thardah, al-Muhandisin, and al-Husseiniyeh areas and on al-Sowar town also destroyed a number of ISIS vehicles, leaving many terrorists dead and injured.
