After President Bashar al-Assad tasked the government to implement executive steps for the political program for resolving the crisis in Syria, the Cabinet held an extraordinary session chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi on Tuesday to discuss mechanism and steps for implementing this program.
The Prime Minister and the Ministers discussed a number of opinions and ideas on the mechanisms for launching national dialogue, stressing openness to all elements of society and inviting political, popular, vocational, economic, social, civil and spiritual activities to participate in open dialogue sessions to lay the groundwork for comprehensive national dialogue on the basis of sovereignty and rejecting foreign interference, eventually leading to a national charter bill to be put for referendum.
After discussions, the Cabinet decided to continue deliberations in a second session on Wednesday morning during which the necessary mechanisms will be approved.
The Cabinet saluted the Armed Forces, security forces, national forces and social activities for their sacrifices and role in confronting terrorism and the conspiracy against Syria, lauding the national initiatives to reduce the burdens affecting citizens and pushing dialogue forward.
