On Monday, President Bashar al-Assad referred the State Council Law, recently approved by the People’s Assembly, to the Higher Constitutional Court to reconsider the constitutionality of some of its rules and the extent of their agreement with articles of the constitution.
The referral of the law by Assad comes after its approval by the People’s Assembly, to confirm that it would be in harmony with rules of the constitution.
