Prominent Doctor Freed Through Help of Douma rebels

A prominent doctor has been freed after 73 days of detention, through the assistance of rebels from Douma, according to a Zaman al-Wasl reporter. He did not identify the kidnappers.

Activists have accused a key Al-Qaeda group in Syria, the Nusra Front, of kidnapping Dr. Ahmed Salim al-Boukaei, and prominent activist Razan Zeitouneh, but the Front has denied the accusations, according to a statement obtained by Zaman al-Wasl.

Ahmed Taha, commander of the Douma Martyrs brigade, said many rebel battalions had cooperated to have the field doctor released.

Taha told Zaman al-Wasl that the rebels’ command center in eastern Ghouta is monitoring the cases of all kidnapped revolutionary activists and rebels "are actively pursuing their release, including Zeitouneh."
