Wth fighting between Syrian regime forces and opposition fighters continuing since Tuesday to control Hosh Alfara town in Eastern Ghouta after the regime forces managed to infiltrate the area, the opposition has executed the "millionaire" Turki al-Jabbawi on charges of dealing with the regime, facilitating its entry into the town, and drug trafficking.
The spokesman for the Army of Islam, Abdul Rahman al-Shami, detailed the role of Jabbawi in the infiltration process, revealing that "the infiltration happened because a cell, funded and led by Jabbawi, gave instructions to the regime forces."
"Jabbawi is known as a drug dealer in the region. A group consisting of 10 to 15 members provided the regime with information about the locations of the fighters of the Army of Islam stationed in the area, and opened the way for the regime forces to enter the town in the early hours of dawn on Tuesday, while the townspeople were asleep," he said.
"At the same time, three tanks managed to take control of the entire town in a sudden operation, but the opposition fighters quickly regained more than 50 percent of the territory of the town and inflicted heavy losses upon regime forces."
Shami said that "immediately after the exposure of the operation, members of the cell were arrested, including Jabbawi, who confessed in front of the Unified Judiciary about his contacts and coordination with the regime, in addition to drug trafficking".
"Jabbawi was sentenced to death, and the sentence was carried out immediately".
