A massive dust storm hit the Syrian provinces of Idleb, Homs, and Lattakia on Monday, which according to reports was the fiercest in decades. Regime supporters say that the storm bodes well for ISIS fighters who captured an oil-rich village in the northern countryside of Homs.
Activists welcomed the storm because it halted the regime’s air strikes in Homs, Idleb, and other war-ravaged areas.
A reporter from Zaman Al-Wasl said a thick layer of dust had swept through the northern countryside of Homs, causing dozens of cases of asthma and respiratory distress.
Pro-regime social media activists lamented that the storm helped ISIS maintain control over the oil-rich village of Jazal located north of Homs.
