“Claw-Sword” Turkish Air Operation in Syria: Objectives and Results

Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said on Sunday that “terrorist hideouts were destroyed in the ‘Claw-Sword’ air operation in northern Syria and Iraq. Direct hits were achieved at the so-called headquarters of the PKK and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) terrorist organizations.”

The Turkish minister added that “the operation against the strongholds of terrorists in northern Syria and Iraq was meticulously planned, and all necessary measures were taken in order not to harm innocent people and the environment, like other operations of the Turkish Armed Forces.”

Will Erdogan Enter Aleppo?

“Hideouts, shelters, caves, tunnels and warehouses belonging to terrorists were destroyed with great success. Direct hits were achieved in the so-called terrorist organization’s headquarters, and the terrorists’ hideouts, caves and burrows were demolished over their heads,” he said. He noted that “the claw of the Turkish armed forces was over the terrorists’ heads again.”

“We are determined to rid our country and nation of the 40-year-old scourge of terrorism and we have the capacity to do so,” Akar said. Turkey has not and will not let the blood of its martyrs and innocent people go in vain at any time… We will continue to hold accountable those who targeted the security of our country and nation as we held them accountable before until today. We will continue to fight terrorism until the last terrorist is neutralized.”

The Turkish Defense Ministry said that Minister Akar and the commanders of the Turkish Armed Forces spent Sunday night at the operations center when the fighters participating in the operation took off from their positions, with instructions given to start it after midnight Saturday. They returned to their bases after achieving direct hits to the targets.
