Baraa Katerji, a Syrian businessman close to the regime’s president, Bashar al-Assad was killed on Monday by an Israeli strike targeting his car in a border area near Lebanon, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Reuters.
The Syrian Observatory said, “An Israeli drone targeted a car carrying Baraa Katerji in the Saboura area in the countryside of Damascus, leading to his death along with another person who was with him.”
It explained that “Katerji was a businessman close to Assad, responsible for financing the Syrian Resistance faction to liberate the Golan,” a group founded by the Lebanese Hezbollah years ago to carry out operations against Israel from southern Syria.
There was no immediate Israeli comment on the strike.
