Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church Ignatius Aphrem II has called for a return of stability and peace in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and the region.
During a Sunday sermon held in Beirut, Patriarch Aphrem II said that no one has the right to destroy houses and kidnap innocent people, calling for work on maintaining human rights and dignity.
Patriarch Aphrem II also expressed hope that all kidnapped victims would be released, making particular reference to the abduction of the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun, Bishop Paul Yazigi, and Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo, Bishop John Ibrahim.
