Chairman of the Negotiations Comittee: Entry of Aid Through Crossings with Turkey Secured

The head of the Negotiations Committee, Badr Jamous, confirmed on Wednesday that the entry of aid to those affected by the earthquake had been secured, through the Salama, Al-Rai and Bab Al-Hawa crossings in the north of the country, after communicating with the Turkish government.

Jamous tweeted that countries and international organizations must take urgent and immediate action to help the afflicted in the countryside of Idleb and Aleppo.

The United Nations announced on Tuesday that the quake damaged the mandatory crossing used to deliver aid from Turkey to areas under the control of opposition factions in Syria.

Jens Laerke, the spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), confirmed at a press conference in Geneva that “the cross-border operation itself has been affected.”
