A session of talks, co-chaired by Education Minister Imad al-Azab and Iranian Minister of Education Mohsen Haji Mirzaei, on Wednesday focused on means of developing cooperation between Syria and Iran in the field of education, particularly rehabilitating schools, printing books and developing and supporting vocational and technical education.

During the talks, Azab indicated that the visit of the Iranian delegation came as part of the framework to follow up and complete the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two countries.

Azab also asserted that the two sides agreed to sign agreements and memos of understanding, which include the best means to develop the educational and learning methods by exchanging expertise and visits between the two countries.

For his part, Mirzaei expressed his country’s readiness to provide all possible support to Syria in the field of writing and developing books, training teachers, and participating in the rehabilitation of schools and supporting education across its various branches.

He hailed the importance of the visit to exchange views, expertise and ideas that serve the interests of the two peoples.

Following the talks, the Iranian delegation attended a workshop on STEM curriculum for primary and secondary education stages organized by the Syrian National Center for Curricula Development.

STEM curriculum will contribute to integrating the knowledge necessary for rebuilding of Syria, ensuring human cadres are qualified to achieve sustainable development and upgrade education, Azab said.

Mirzaei, in turn, stressed the importance of training courses and rehabilitating the teaching staff, expressing his country’s readiness to enhance joint cooperation in this regard.
