Rebel Groups Expand Scope of Attack on Regime Forces

Rebel forces have increased attacks against regime forces and positions in the northern Lattakia countryside, killing five regime soldiers in a surprize attack reports Etihad Press.

On Sunday, armed opposition groups expanded the scope of their joint attack on regime forces and their militias in the northern Hama countryside to include areas in the northern Lattakia countryside.

Groups backed by Turkey carried out a surprise attack against regime forces on the Tellat Abu al-Asaad front in the northern Lattakia countryside, killing five regime militia fighters and one of the attackers during the clashes.

Heavy clashes with regime forces have been ongoing since Sunday morning on the Jabel al-Turkman front in the northeastern Lattakia countryside.

Since the operation started last Thursday in the northwestern Hama countryside, 126 fighters from regime forces have been killed in attacks, as well as 102 rebels including 42 jihadists, including Abdel Basat al-Sarout, a commander in Jaish al-Izza.

The clashes are still going on at a heavy pace in the northwestern Hama countryside between Jaish al-Izza and the Turkey-backed factions against regime forces with support from Russian forces.

Regime forces are trying to respond to Thursday’s rebel operations, which succeeded in taking control over the strategic Tel Maleh village and the village of al-Jabin. On the second day, rebel groups took control over the al-Hamamiyet and al-Jalmeh axis north of Tel Maleh. On Saturday they took control over wide parts of al-Jalmeh and cut off the Skeilbiyeh-Mhardeh highway by taking control over Tel Maleh and al-Jalmeh.
