Fruitful Olive Production Returns to Syria

Director of the Olives Office at the Ministry of Agriculture, Mohammad Habo, said there are around 102 million olive trees in Syria planted across an area measuring 692,417 hectares. Of those trees, 82 million of them are fruitful trees and there are 75 different varieties. 

He added that olive nurseries produced around 565, 847 plants in 2017. 

In a statement to SANA, Habo indicated that the Ministry is preparing an integrated plan for developing olive tree cultivation in terms of the area and production, such as prevention and the selection of eco-friendly varieties, which will be adopted in the coming stage in all fields.
