Syrian security forces arrested on Sunday Majdoline Hasan, a female lawyer who has been active in defending political prisoners and took part in the Syrian revolution since the first days in March 2011.

Hasan is a human rights Lawyer, who works with as a consultant with the United Nations in Syria. She has been detained and summoned to security forces many times in the past years.

On March 16, 2011, she was arrested with other protesters who held a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Interior calling for the release of prisoners of conscience.

Majdoline is a dissident member of the Alawite community, from the coastal city of Tartous. She was arrested at her own house.

The regime is particularly intolerant of the Alawite dissidents, as it tries to give the impression that the entire community supports it.

Majdoline adds up to the number of many Alawites who have been in prison including Mazen Darwish, the President of the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression; Abdul Aziz al Khayer, a leading member of the Action Communist party; Samir Haidar, a rights activist, and many others.
