Syrian-Russian Relations Based on History

Abdullah al-Ahmar was meeting with the Chairman of the Russian-Syrian Friendship Association

Assistant Secretary General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party Abdullah al-Ahmar on Wednesday confirmed the strength of deep-rooted relations between Syria and Russia, voicing confidence that they will grow stronger in the future.

Meeting with the Chairman of the Russian-Syrian Friendship Association, Alexander Dzasokhof, Ahmar said Syrian-Russian relations, based on historic ties between the two peoples, remain unaffected by changes in the world.

He said that Syria, which was one of the most stable and secure countries in the world, has been experiencing difficult circumstances has been facing a vicious conspiracy for two years that aims to destroy the country and control the region.

Ahmar said Syria will emerge from the crisis stronger and firmer due to its people's support of the leadership and the army.

He underlined the hypocrisy of the United States which claims to support a political solution while arming terrorist groups, intending to extend the crisis.

Dzasokhof noted that Russian policies have not been as solid as they are now for twenty years and that that is manifested in Russia's solid support for Syria. He criticized arrogant U.S. policies and the role of Qatar, which he described as "a small state that has nothing else but money," and which has become a focal point for extremist forces in the region.
