Assad Shares Iftar With Scholars, Social Figures

Assad used the occasion to deliver a speech stressing the need for moral values and amity in Syrian society

President Bashar Assad on Sunday shared an Iftar banquet with leading Syrian social figures including political representatives, officials and independent political figures, as well as Muslim and Christian religious figures, representatives of unions and syndicates, and civil society groups.

 

The 26th day of Ramadan marks the holy night of 'Laylat al-Qadr'. 

 

Assad used the occasion to deliver a speech in which he stressed the need to consolidate "moral values and amity" in Syrian society, particularly during Ramadan, the month of good will and compassion.

 

The President discussed the latest developments of the crisis in Syria and the heroic works of the Syrian army which he said is defending the country. He underlined the Syrian people's support for the armed forces to protect Syria and its resources.
