The Director of Air Force Intelligence, Major General Jamil Hassan was injured when the Free Syrian Army targeted a presidential convoy with mortars during the Eid al-Fitr holiday earlier this month, the Commander of the Free Syrian Army, Major General Selim Idriss said.
Idriss added that Bashar Assad requested an immediate meeting after the attack and that Jamil Hassan was absent from the meeting due to injuries.
At a press conference held alongside the Syrian National Coalition head, Ahmed Jarba, Idriss said: “After targeting Assad’s convoy with mortars, Bashar requested an immediate meeting which Hassan did not attend.”
“He was injured in the attack and the response by the regime was to attack our people in the Eastern Ghouta,” Idriss said.
